Commercial Recycling, Compost, Green Debris & Garbage Services

Recycling

Commercial Recycling Program For commercial accounts, we will pick up your Commingle Recycling carts and glass separately from your business. The carts will have a red sticker on the lid, indicating what should and should not be put into the cart.

We will help you start or expand a recycling program at your business or school. We will provide you with commingle carts and glass containers for your recyclables. Contact us for details.

No Plastic Bags in Commingle Bins! They Clog Up Our System!
Plastic bags, such as grocery and retail bags, protective newspaper bags, & sandwich sacks, cause BIG problems at our recycling recovery facility. These bags clog up the equipment by wrapping around gears and wheels. To reduce the number of plastic bags at home, switch to durable, reusable bags for your trips to the store. Keep durable bags stored in your car or bike for easy access when shopping. Plastic bags can be recycled at the Ashland Recycling Center (Water Street).

Recycle Bin

Ashland Recycling ProgramBecause of our semi-automated collection method, glass and used motor oil cannot be recycled in your commingled roll-cart. The blue bin is exclusively used for glass and motor oil. Do not put your glass inside plastic bags!

Glass
All glass food, beverage jars and bottles. Remove metal lids and place in commingled bin.

Used Motor Oil
Put the used motor oil in a plastic container with a screw-top lid. Make sure it is well-sealed.
Why recycle motor oil?

Cardboard Pick-Up:

We supply 1.5 or 2-yard containers for your business to recycle corrugated cardboard. We pick up cardboard on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Compost

Commercial CompostDiverting food from the waste stream significantly reduces the global warming impact from landfills, as decomposing food waste is a major source of the greenhouse gas methane.

Additional Information

Food waste is the third largest component of generated waste by weight. Because of its low composting rate, it is the largest component of discarded waste by weight. The average person generates about 197 pounds of solid waste per year ("Measurement Standards and Reporting Guidelines," National Recycling Coalition, www.nrc-recycle.org).

The businesses below have chosen to divert organic material from the landfill. It is collected weekly and transported to Dry Creek landfill, where it is ground up with leaves and other green debris. Once composted, it is available for sale.
