Plastic Bag and Shrink Wrap Recycling

ONLY at the Ashland Recycling Center! (Water St.)
Plastic and Shrink Wrap BinsYou can now recycle your plastic bags - any color or size, zip locks are OK, too! You can also bring in your shrink wrap, any clear wrapping and printed wrapping is OK.

Requirements:
  • - The plastic bags and shrink wrap must be clean and dry -
      no food residue!
  • - Put the shrink wrap only in the container marked Shrink Wrap
  • - Put the plastic bags only in the container marked Plastic Bags
Never put these items into the commingle containers! (They contaminate the load.) If you need help or have questions, ask an attendant.

Please reduce or eliminate the number of plastic bags you use: switch to durable, reusable bags for your trips to the store. Keep durable bags stored in your car or bike for easy access when shopping.

Please help us make this pilot program a success! Spread the word!

Compact Fluorescent & Fluorescent Bulbs and Tubes

Fluorescent Light Bulbs FAQFluorescent lights contain mercury and don't belong in the trash. Please recycle them and keep mercury out of the environment. Residential customers can bring up to 3 fluorescent light tubes or compact fluorescent bulbs to the Ashland Recycling Center (Water Street) per visit.

Commercial Customers take material to the
Valley View Transfer Station.

Keep in mind: Using one compact fluorescent bulb eliminates the need to burn 110 pounds of coal to generate electricity. It also prevents 450 pounds of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from reaching the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. -from 18seconds.org
